Now that I'm up there with Childish, I'ma be hella real.

So first off, no, my name is not two lines. It's Li, just a lowercase "L" and an uppercase "i." Aight? Cool.

 

I never really knew how to tell my story before I had one. And, thanks to a few people, now I do.

 

Last season of Battle of the Bands, I feel like I was a lonely-a$$, whiny b!tch with nothing better to do except complain about society. Now, I'm gonna talk about how amazing human beings can be and complain about society. 

 

All from the end of middle school through college, people told me I was nobody, and I was flattered, really, cuz I ain't even gotta be nobody to be somebody. So when people threw day-old bread from Jimmy John's at me when I picked the gender-neutral bathroom, or stripped me when I wore a suit to prom, or choked me to f**k up the Adam's apple I never even had, I just shook it off and counted down the days to graduation. Oh yeah, and not to mention that everything and anything involving sex freaked me out, so I had trouble dealing with all of the teenage hormones that surrounded me on a daily basis. Yep, I was dead set on the idea that I was asexual. 

 

Then I guess I fell in love.

I met this perfect dork named Jesse who saw right through me and changed my whole f**king world. Life stopped being about me saying f**k you, and ended up being about me saying... well. The opposite. But let's keep this PG-13.

F**k society turned into who gives a sh!t about society, and f**k your segregated bathrooms turned into "hey, if I can pass as a guy, I'll just go in there, and if I'm pretty fem today, I'll stick with the ladies room."

 

I've started feeling more comfortable with myself, even though it's really hard to express the sh!t that builds up sometimes.

 

Making music is a chance for me to get my thoughts out without people thinking that I'm crazy or calling for help. I can say how I feel and reach out to other people that can relate to me, and maybe, just maybe, I can make a difference in somebody's life like Jesse made in mine.
